Through out the planning of Diversity Day, I have taken part in searching and scheduling speakers, asking for both financial and food/snack donations, and discovering music and potential spaces to hold the event at. The event is coming up on March 18th, and we have just put out our posters out in public. We unfortunately, are awaiting the hate letters and conflicts from citizens of the community who have in the past had their say about opposing the event.
In the past, I have seen differences in viewpoints about different cultures change after attending Diversity Day. I hope that in the future it holds this same impact. Although, the impact on some people have not changed them. There are still people who are opposed to letting their children, or high school students, become exposed to the communities different people.
