The Problem

Education is an important key to securing a positive future; however, there are many people for whom traditional education does not fit. The DollarBoyz Academy Learning Center is a partnership between Y-NOT (Youth Now On Top) and the Pennsylvania Leadership Charter School to engage Philadelphia middle and high school-aged youth in a more practical and engaging learning format (urban arts entrepreneurial education), while simultaneously helping them acquire their high school diploma.

Plan of Action

I am currently working with several professionals in the Philadelphia area to develop a Board of Directors for the Academy, and have already received the commitment of PALCS to work together upon its establishment. Once our board is solidified, I will begin taking official applications from students, which will go until the end of April 2012. Interviews by our board will be conducted in May, to conclude with student selections in June, and orientation in August.
