I am a student at Tuscarora High School and a leader of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. I, along with another student and teacher from THS, am working through FCA to raise funds for the Invisible Children Foundation (www.invisiblechildren.com) this spring. Invisible Children is a non-profit organization and a movement. It is dedicated to both ending the worst humanitarian crisis in the world today in Northern Uganda and protecting the children who are forced to commute nightly in order to stay alive and avoid becoming abducted to fight as soldiers. In order to make sure 100% of the proceeds go to the organization, we decided to hold a benefit concert on April 25. The concert will be held at a local church and will include two local bands. The cost to enter the concert will be only $5.00, but we will also be selling Invisible Children merchandise at the concert. This benefit concert is one way that I hope will not only raise awareness of the unseen war going on in Uganda, but will also make a global impact in the lives of children living in poverty and fear.
