Recognizing that just $4.13 per day can provide three healthy meals for a child who would otherwise go hungry makes the solution to the problem seem almost too simple. But it’s not that easy, nothing ever is. Thus far, Kids Feeding Kids has funded more than 36,000 healthy meals for food insecure children, collected thousands of pounds of food to fill our pantry shelves, received tens of thousands of dollars in goods and services, sponsored back pack programs to provide children with healthy food choices over the weekend, and educated millions of readers as well as thousands of conference attendees, about the reality of the consequences that face this country’s food insecure children. We will continue to accelerate our work to educate the public about the prevalence and impact of hunger on America’s children while striving to eliminate the barriers that keep families from getting the nutritious food their children need to thrive. Our partnerships with our local food bank, culinary institute, corporate merchants and local establishments will allow us to continue to build creative and highly visible community efforts that will provide immediate and long term relief in the effort to ameliorate childhood hunger. In addition to our traditional events and educational efforts we plan to reach much broader audiences and affect more children’s lives by encouraging more youth advocacy and involvement throughout the States.
