Project LEARNeD is a project that intends to build a library in public schools across the country, beginning with the Sta. Teresa Elementary School. So far, 12 computers have been successfully installed in the school’s future library. Currently, the UNESCO Club needs sponsorship to buy the necessary materials: books and bookshelves. On our next visit to the school, we intend to take measurements and document the dimensions of the room as to plan the structure of the library regarding bookshelf placement. After the bookshelves are bought, they will be brought to and assembled at the school, placed in the library according to the draft plans. Finally, the books will be shipped and purchased via National Book Store. Following the completion of the library, a ceremony will be held to open the library officially, inviting our sponsors to attend. On this day, many verified and experienced volunteers will be brought to the school to read to the children and guide them in using the newly installed computers. Every week to two weeks, the UNESCO Club will return to reinforce lessons being taught in schools, as curricula for Computer Studies, Math, English, Science and the Humanities will be developed. Teacher professional development sessions will also be hosted by the LEARNeD members as to train the educators to use the computer as a tool for teaching.
