Living Shoreline planting - Beaverdam Creek - Salisbury, MD Thursday and Friday, July 12 and 13, 2007 10 am - 2 pm Come help with this innovative restoration project! This will be the final planting at the Living Shoreline site on Beaverdam Creek in Salisbury City Park. Thousands of native grass plants will be planted along 2200’ of shoreline in an effort to reduce erosion, improve water quality and provide wildlife habitat. The freshwater site, located near the Salisbury Zoo, is part of the Chesapeake Bay watershed. Equipment and refreshments will be provided. Project partners include the City of Salisbury, Chesapeake Bay Foundation, the Salisbury Zoo, Wicomico Creekwatchers, Salisbury University, University of Maryland Eastern Shore, Maryland Conservation Corps, and the US Fish and Wildlife Service. Project funders include the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, Chesapeake Bay Trust, Keith Campbell Foundation, NOAA, and the Nabit Foundation.
