The Problem

After the War in Iraq began in 2003, a family created a program to show their support for their son who was a member of the United States Army. Due to overwhelming requests, in 2004, the “Any Soldier” effort, as it has come to be called, was expanded to include any member of the Armed Forces in harm’s way. I promptly joined Any Soldier in August of 2004 to help send letters and care packages to soldiers overseas. I have been participating ever since, and every holiday season I host Operation Yellow Ribbon, in order to welcome and encourage the community to help with the effort. I collected letters, care packages and donations from people in the community to send to our troops fighting for our freedoms overseas. We now help approximately 116,000 soldiers, marines, sailors and airmen overseas. Anysoldier.com
