My colleagues and I have completed a pilot study (N=30) where we implemented an exercise program at a school for intellectually disabled adults. The weekly
program consisted of 20 minute educational session where we lead fun activities which taught the importance of eating healthy foods and exercising regularly. After each educational session, we lead a 40 minute exercise class which was tailored to the capabilities of the students. We completed a pre- and post- questionnaire assessing their attitudes, knowledge and behaviours with regards to physical activity. Our findings were positive and we would like to implement this program full-time.
