The Problem

I am planning on holding a LGBT friendly dance in the Greater Seattle Area. Many students (including non-LGBT students in high school) do not feel comfortable going to dances with their significant other because of hostility in their own school. Students also need to have feelings of safety, comfort, and community to be successful adults. Seattle is known for being very LGBT friendly, however Seattle also is known by some for having a very large percentage of LGBT youth that are at-risk. I hope this event will increase feelings of community and connections within the Seattle youth community.
