Rocky Point Park was a big attraction in the state of Rhode Island. People from different states came here in Warwick, RI to enjoy the amazing landmark. The park was opened in 1847 till sadly it closed in 1995, due to financial difficulties. I know this seems like it's not as bad as all the other economic issues everywhere, but i will say it was a big deal to all of the individuals in Rhode Island. Now these days all of us in Rhode Island have to drive so far to go to amusement parks. parents spend so much money on gas and other needed essentials of traveling. but when rocky point was existence, parents and their children would come to this attraction multiple times a week! It made a great location for a couples first date!
In 2005, Michael Jackson wanted to reopen the park but someone in Rhode island refused his proposal. Everyone was saddened by this, having feelings of optimism and dreams but then were crushed once again knowing that The Rocky Point would never be the same. Rocky point was not only an amusement park, but it had a shore dinner hall which held 500 people and had the best clam cakes and chowder in the world (at the time),had a palladium which was rented out to dances, proms, and weddings, had a salt water outdoor swimming pool, and even had outdoor concerts with famous bands from the 80's such as rolling stones, quiet riot, and even ACDC.
