Relay For Life

Relay For Life is a 24 hour event which helps to raise money for cancer research. This event also promotes cancer awareness in the community through both entertaining and emotional activities. Our Relay takes place in Macungie Memorial Park in Macungie, PA. We begin preparing for Relay in September and work towards our goals up until the month of Relay. Most of this time is spent organizing smaller events like chili cookoffs or movie nights. These are events which raise money that goes towards the main goal of the entire Relay. The part I played in Relay For Life was a Co-Chair in the Youth Committee. The Youth Committee is designated to get younger people involved in Relay as well as raise more money for cancer research. The area that I am in charge of is Advocacy and the Youth Summit. Advocacy is contacting one's local representatives and attempting to get them involved in the Relay. The Youth Summit is a day long event which is designed to inform youth of the part they can play in Relay For Life.
