India is home to twenty five percent of the world's hungry poor, even more than Sub-Saharan Africa. Many families only dream of getting three square meals a day. According to government figures, around 43 per cent of children under the age of five years are malnourished and more than half of all pregnancy women aged between 15 and 49 years suffer from anaemia. Despite encountering hungry poor on every street in the capital city of India, not a single school has ever organised a food drive.th The first food bank in Delhi was established only last year. The youth here in India is unaware of how to help the hungry. Hundreds of thousands can only dream of eat three square meals a day. To help the helpless, all we have to do is donate a kilogram bag of basmati rice. Our food donations save lives, now all we have to do is start collecting.
