Our next event will be another benefit concert at a local teen center. This time, however, we would like to sell new tee shirts (last year we made $300 alone off them). The cost of tee-shirts, and the costs of gas money for bands and staffing for the concert will make it very difficult to make a substantial profit. As far as steps we need to take, most of the work has already been done. The tee-shirts are in the process of being made, the concert date has been set, and the bands have been secured. We need to work on promotions, and spreading the word about the concert. It is estimated that it costs $3 to protect a Darfurian woman for one year. Every dollar we make is extremely important, and can make a significant difference in someone's life. The concert, however, also has huge benefits for my community. Although the situation in Darfur has received more publicity recently, many teens in my community are still not aware of how dire the conflict in Darfur really is or the magnitude of the death counts. This concert will not only raise funds, but will also serve as education on Darfur for many local high school students.
