If you could change the world, would you do it? I am in a program called Huntsville Masters Commission, and that is our primary focus, to be world changers! We have already done so much, so I will just start from the beginning. The second week I was in masters commission, we went to a place called rescue atlanta in Atlanta Georgia. Here we helped feed the homeless, pass out clothing, clean up the grounds, and had a acceptence ralley for the neighborhood children in the near by projects. We repainted the inside of the building, which included a mural in the youth class room.
Through out the year we go into schools and do diffrent assemblies on variety of topics, such as; saying no to drugs, being honest, treating each other with kindeness, etc... You wouldn't believe how much their faces light up when we come through the door. I have the oppratunity to speak into the lives of these children each week. They learn that somebody does care for and love them. We also go the a place called "Boys and Girls club." It is a after school program for the kids with parents who work later. We get the oppratunity each Friday to just hang out with the kids and tell them stories or just play games.
We have the privelege of getting go down on the streets of New Orleans every year during Mardi Gras. Our primary focus while we're there is to love on the people and show them we are willing to help them get back on the feet again. That city has been through so much, so went down to help rebuild the local communities and one of the churches. We also misnistered and gave a little hope back to that city. Just listening to some of the people tell me about loosing their house and everything they owned broke my heart. I wanted to do everything I can do to help ease their pain.
After Mardi Gras, our next trip was Iceland. It was my first time out of the country, but I can deffinately see myself reaching out to the needs of people all over the world! We did school assemblies similar to those we do in the states. We learned alot about their culture, their history, and their way of living. We went to the colleges there and proformed stomp and step for them. On a saturday night, we did a huge concert for the youth, to give them an alternative to going out and getting into trouble. We tried to show them a healthy way to express themselves. It was incredible!
The reason why I believe in this program so strongly, is not only does it take potential leaders and help push the into their full potential, but it takes young adults who truely want to change the world and helps them do it. This program has change my life, by helping me change the lives of others.
This is a non profit organization and they do more in 9 months, which is how long each semester of the program is, then most people do in their whole life! If you would consider this organization for the golden brick award, I promise you, you will not regret it. Thank you for you time and consideration.
