Speak Out: Women, Families, and the 2008 Election

The "Speak Out: Women, Families, and the 2008 Election" forum will be held on February 2nd, 2008, at the Prescott College Crossroads Event Center. The objective of the forum is to increase women's participation in local, regional, and national decision-making processes through involvement in community activities, organizations, appointed Boards and Commissions, and politics. Topics that we will be covering through workshops, panel discussions, and story boards include: Drug/Alcohol Abuse Economy Education and Public Schools Health Care Housing Immigration Media Sexual Assault/ Domestic Violence Taxation Transportation War and the Military Water and the Environment Women in Politics Youth Activities Through panel discussions and workshops, we will help participants connect the dots between the challenges they face in their daily lives and opportunities to become involved in their communities, locally and nationally. The Women's Empowerment Breakthrough, a not for profit organization, is hosting this important event. Individuals committed to participating on either a panel discussion or a workshop include: Jack Wilson, mayor; Lora Lopas, town council; Howard Shanker, candidate for Congressional District 1; Mary Kim Titla, candidate for Congressional District 1; Anne Kirkpatrick, candidate for Congressional District 1; Jeff Riley, candidate for Congressional District 1; Olivia Salcido, PhD in Women's Issues/Domestic Violence; and many others. We will hold a women's issues forum annually, to keep commnity discussion and involvement going and to generate dialogue and action on important issues to women.
