In the summer of 2007, I founded the Feline Rescue Association (FRA) as an entity in the State of Maryland. Within a few months, we were doing adoptions out of a local pet supply store. By February of 2008, we had achieved 501(c)(3) status. In the year and a half that FRA has been in existence, we have spayed/neutered and found homes for over 300 friendly cats and kittens, including formerly feral kittens, and spayed neutered almost as many feral cats. In addition, we have provided tangible and educational support to local cat caretakers and assisted low-income pet owners with spay/neuter and veterinary care. We currently have a network of volunteers who foster cats and kittens in their homes, who assist at adoption events and at our permanent adoption center, and who help with various projects such as large Trap-Neuter-Return efforts. Our online presence has been a great asset to our operations. We continue to grow physically and virtually!
