The World Classroom Project

Imagine a high school or college student taking a class on twenty-first century globalizing trends. Imagine that student turning on a computer to carry on class discussions with students on the other side of the world. Such classrooms are the future of education. Our world is growing more interconnected and interdependent by the day. If we truly want to prepare our future business leaders to compete and thrive in a global marketplace, if we think it is truly important that our future political leaders communicate and interact with future leaders around the world, and if we want our citizens to be more globally attentive and active, the place to inspire this change is the classroom. And the time to start is now. The World Classroom Project aims to establish a system by which secondary students in the U.S. and other countries interact in class together. Using videoconference and Web-based communication technology, students and teachers will teach each other about and discuss the contemporary social and cultural issues their countries face. These exchanges will increase students’ understanding of far-off nations and world events and will move them into the roles of active participants in a global sphere. Our organization is currently filing for incorporation and 501c3 status. As soon as we are a registered non-profit, we will be able to more easily seek donations from large institutions. Until then, we are seeking assistance to help us cover the basic incorporation and 501c3 filing fees.
