The Problem

Afghanistan is one of the poorest countries in the world; while the media covers it, it still remains forgotten. Quite recently, Africa has obtained a lot of aid and media coverage for AIDS virus, Darfur, poverty, ect. Yet Afghanistan remains in a shadow, only shown on today's media for terrorism. The children of Afghanistan suffer from not only a poor country, but one stuck in the center of a deadly war. They've grown up to the sound of gunshots and bombs, and to the feeling of fear. Many themselves have been caught in a bombing or shooting, and now suffer life damage. Others have been orphaned. They will most likely grow up to be bitter at the rest of the world for what we have done to their country. These children do not enjoy the luxury of new toys each week as an American child might. Not to mention the average Afghanistan household income is around $6 per month! In times of hopelessness, children need hope. These kids never know the comfort that a stuffed animal or doll can bring, nor will they be able to know the happiness of receiving a new toy to love. This organization will provide relief to these children; by giving them their youth back. Toys will be sent to orphanages, children's hospitals, schools, and poor villages where children have little to nothing. The mission is to bring a glimmer of hope to a growing, struggling generation of Afghan children, and give them peace in themselves admist the war. Money will be raised to ship out packages, and old (or new) toys will be collected. They must be lightweight and decently small, so more will be able to be shipped on the limited funds collected.
