Fundraising to support the pilot project is the top priority. The funding will be used to support the following:
1. Wooden looms to replace back strap looms, which are physically demanding and painful for the women. Wooden looms will increase production efficiency, quality and diffuse back pain.
2. High quality thread, materials and beads to build a sample product line for the international market.
3. Technical product development professionals to ensure quality control and modern design templates for international style and demand.
The sample product line will be marketed through social media (fashion, social design, eco friendly and innovation blogs), relevant competitions, design awards as well as traditional media like print and radio. As the reputation and online presence for our line of high fashion minority wear increases, we will solicit distribution channels such as boutiques and online platforms like Fab.com and Gilt Groupe for product sales. In addition to our own product line, we will develop partnerships with other fashion & home goods companies to source fabric from the Ta Oi community.
