The Problem

The mission of Young Heroes is to develop middle school youth into active civic leaders through community service and an interactive curriculum that focuses on the values of courage, compassion, cooperation and commitment.

Plan of Action

In Miami, Young Heroes gather on Saturday mornings to participate in team activities and special trainings on topics pertaining to social issues. In the afternoon, teams split up to participate in community service projects that address the issue they learned about that morning, and then reflect as a team before departing for the day. Topics have included Hunger & Homelessness, Aging and the Elderly, Youth Violence, and Disability Awareness.
