The entire senior class took a day off from school to participate in Learn to Drive: Don't slip and slide, where we all got together to learn how to drive better in bad weather conditions and have fun.
The day started off with the driver's education teacher, Chase Smith , talking to everyone as a group about the reason that we were out and having such a good time. He introduced our speakers ahead of time, and let everyone know when each speaker were going to be speaking.
We started the day off with water gun, and water ballon fights. It was a big hit. Then our first speaker, a local mechanic, spoke on how to properly care for your car. Useful information such as how often to keep your oil changed, and when you should get new tires put on your car were learned.
A slip and slide was put out and covered in soap, and everyone had a blast sliding around. Afterwards a speaker spoke to us about what to do when bad weather hits and we are in our cars. Everyone learned that you should always have good windshield wipers, and that Rain-Ex always help. Drive slow and keep your lights on, and to not panic if you do hydroplane. It was very helpful, and after slipping around on the slip and slide we all knew how hard it was to not slip in the water.
To end up the day we split up into different various games such as Freeze Tag with water guns, Football on the slip and slide, and a shaving cream fight. To wrap it all up Chase Smith spoke once more about careful driving and how important it is.
