We held our 3rd annual Community Family Fun Day in April, which has tripled in size. We began this project as a way to get ours students involved in a fundraising effort for a non-profit organization that could use our help. The first two years we raised money for Heifer International, and this year we raised money for our local animal shelter. The local SPCA came out with their adoption mobile and we found homes for all the kittens and 4 puppies. We added a Blood Drive this year and had teachers, parents and neighbors turn out to donate. Not only do our students get involved, but we have received support for neighbors in our community, it has been a good experience for the adults to see what the "kids" are capable of and for the students to feel the support of adults in their community. Local business rent spaces and sell merchandise and our area high school also joins in and come out to help.
