HIV/AIDS is a very quickly rising problem in many countries. Uganda has seen the horrible effects, leaving many children in orphanages, and even caring for children themselves. This project will help fund the prevention education to youth, a step towards reducing the quickly spreading disease.
Plan of Action
I began by sewing lots and lots of bags ( I'm actually still sewing lots and lots of bags!) and set up a website so it could be accessed by anyone. Although I wasn't sure how successful this organization would be, it took off immediately. Not only have people I know become aware of the crisis in Uganda, and many other countries, all of the money I will raise will impact the lives of children. These children will receive funds to help pay for an education, and food. In addition, I was able to work alongside my church and sew quilts to give to each child in the New Hope Orphanage.
Helping Hand(bag)s has seen a great growth since the start. The amount of fund raising has increased greatly, and the word is being spread. Soon, I will be selling my bags in a store, as well as my webpage and hopefully an Etsy account.
