The Problem

The problem is, number one our community is held together by the help of eachother. So many charities are in need so why not help a different one each month? Second, several tours come and go and can often overshadow the local musicians that who represent our city. And those 2 reasons enough of a reason to want to help out and make a change. $2 Shows is a charitable organization dedicated to putting on benefit concerts and events that seeks to promote the musical and artistic talents of community artists.

Plan of Action

$2 Shows is a charitable organization dedicated to putting on benefit concerts and events that seeks to promote the musical and artistic talents of community artists. We donate the proceeds after each event to local organizations and to the public at large based on individual need. $2 Shows started as a small concert series in Spencer Ludwig’s backyard during the summer of 2008. Each concert show cases local bands and artists, giving people a chance to enjoy what the youth of LA is creating for the small requested donation at $2 a head, which is donated to a different charity at the end of each show. The proceeds are given to a different charity per show. If $2 Show organizations were thriving in all 50 states, we would be helping to enhance communities all over the country. Coming from a biracial lower income families, we were inspired to create a space for people from all socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds to join together for one night of the month to appreciate a night of art and music. Our plan of action , is in action, currently in L.A and Austin, TX. $2 Shows is meant to be the answer for young artists to debut their work in front of a huge audience, thus speeding up the process for them to gain a larger fan base and to be more successful in the world of art and music. $2 Shows is open to anything and everything so that people can feel free to share their own personal view of the world and message of themselves. $2 Shows can be the shining light in dark times. The New York Times recently called it a “junior version of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.” This new form of social gathering is organic and financially feasible. By word of mouth, our audience has grown from 15 people to over 500 people per show. With the help of other companies and foundations, $2 Shows continue to grown and positively effect local communities around the world.
