The Problem
The 2009 Young Men's Luncheon was aimed to change the lives and lifestyle of the young men within the community. I live in a community where elderly people are sometimes afraid to come out of their own house because they feared a young man was going to rob them, or even kill them.
Plan of Action
My co-workers and I went through tough times and steps to get the program completed. We raised money by having different kinds of sales from our office such as snow cones, pickles, rice kripies, sodas, etc. The guest speakers did not hesistate in wanting to be a part of the event to teach the young men some life lessons. There was a over 100 young men who attended the event and over 30 older men who were assistants in making sure that there was no trouble and that every young person who attend paid attention to everything being said. Overall, to this day, people are still talking about the effect this event had on the young men who attended the event. The event was so big, we had to do one for the young women. Even food organizations donated to serve food to the ones who participated.
