This exciting new race will have you running (or walking) over a brand new picturesque course, including the North Park Trail as well as quiet local streets. The race will finish on the towpath of the Susquehanna & Tidewater Canal. The race course is a mostly flat, easy run over well-groomed paths and local paved streets. The race will benefit the preservation of the lock house that houses the Susquehanna Museum and the surrounding North Park. About The Susquehanna Museum Organized in 1970, by a group of civic minded citizens as a non-profit organization, the Susquehanna Museum collects, preserves, exhibits and interprets the history of Havre de Grace, and the surrounding region. It is best known for its location at the outlet lock of the Susquehanna & Tidewater Canal, and the 1840 Lock Tender’s House that is home to the museum. Adjacent to the museum grounds is North Park. The “Joe K. North Park Trail” is a wonderful 1 mile loop, along an old railroad spur used to build the Conowingo Dam, and returning along the Susquehanna & Tidewater Canal towpath. This trail is easy walking along a level, mulched trail for much of the loop. This almost 50 acres provides a great spot for walks, picnicking, bird watching, fishing, or relaxing. There is no admission fee for either the Susquehanna Museum or the “Joe K. North Park Trail.”
