The Problem

Our club consisting of about 30 middle through high school students felt that people needed to be reminded of the unfortunate events that hit our country ten years ago. This project served it's purpose and was greatly appreciated by the public.

Plan of Action

Our plan of action was to first, collect 3,497 flags to represent the total amount of lives lost on that day. We then reserved a strip of land outside a building on a busy street. That same day, there happened to be a large event with at least 1,000 people attending so our location was superb. Our club arrived at the scene September 11th 2010 at 6 a.m., we then spent 2 hours setting up the flags and a huge banner that one of our club members made. After we held a public ceremony that included a speech I made, a student singing the National Anthem and other students playing "God Bless America" on the bagpipes. The event was covered by our local news channel and a few newspapers sent reporters out to cover the project. All in all, the event was a huge success.
