The Problem

A problem we all face as we graduate high school and enter the 'real world', is the issue of college tuition. Many cannot pay their way to college. Some in extreme poverty situations recieve grants such as the Pell Grant, others have wealth in their family. For those stuck in the middle, their is work, scholarships, and entrepreneurs. I work full time, have applied for a couple dozen scholarships this year, and have won 2. Then I saw an oppertunity to raise money for college. I paid for a small booth at our community fair, and I set up a face painting booth stating that all proceeds would go to college tuition.

Plan of Action

It was a bit intimedating setting up my own business for that weekend, but I knew what I had to do. I spent weeks in preperation making signs, getting decorations, and practicing my art. Then I put it all to the test at the fair and it was a success. I had fun, made some money for college, and I made so many kids happy. The parents of the children were happy as well, because I charged much less than the other face painter at the fair. The other face painter was a professional business, other than my entrepreneur type set up. But the parents loved how happy their kids were, and how inexpensive it was. In the end I was very happy and I had learned a lot about trying to run a business, and I earned money to help pay for my future education.
