The Problem

There is a huge SAT score gap due to income. Wealthier students have access to better resources and expensive test-preparation services, and as a result, their scores are on average 400 points higher (30%) than the lowest income bracket. With the importance of SAT scores in scholarships, college applications, and other endeavors, we believe that this is a critical problem.

Plan of Action

We currently hold free classes using a solid curriculum developed by 3 students who have scored in the 99th percentile in the SAT. In order to expand our reach, we plan to recruit some of the top students from various high schools to teach in other underprivileged communities. We will provide a small amount of funding for classroom supplies, our curriculum, and organizational help to all of our classes. We also plan to provide all of our teaching materials online for free, so that any student, regardless of where he/she lives, can have access to extremely high-quality resources to help them in standardized testing.
