The Problem

Many people believe that buying a dog from a breeder is a better decision than adopting a dog or cat from a shelter. Why? Who knows. However, anyone who has worked with shelter animals knows how loyal and loving they are and how desperate they are for a home to call their own. Adopting an animal from a local shelter opens up room for strays and owner surrenders. The kennels become full when few or no people are adopting animals from the shelters, which in turn leads to killing the animals that are deemed "undesirable" or "unwanted." This killing can be minimized by adopting a shelter or rescue animal instead of purchasing one from a breeder, or even worse...a puppy mill.

Plan of Action

Sharing one adoptable dog from your local rescue, animal shelter or humane society each day would help these animals in need greatly. I plan to share at least 7 pictures of adoptable animals each week from my hometown. If everyone did the same & spread awareness of animal adoption, the killing of innocent animals could be minimized.
