The Problem

Stop tobacco use and prevent the danger of second hand smoke.

Why It's Important

It is important because I know the problems smoking causes.Smoking harms the enviornment, which not many people are aware of. It pollutes our air, soil and water. Dropping cigarette butts on the ground decomposes into the soil and infects the trees and plants that grow around us. Studies have shown that exposure to secondhand smoke can lead to the development of asthma in children who were not born with it. If careless, they can start fires which can burn down houses and possibly harm family members. It can cause many different forms of cancer, high blood pressure, stroke, many more diseases including death.

The Plan Of Action

I started a pledge to have pledgers and I try to help those who are trying to quit, warn others and prevent them before ever starting the addiction, and to have pledgers stay clear from second-hand smoke as much as they possibly can.

How Can Others Get Involved?

They can warn friends and family of what they know and to influence the prevention in their households.

Project Updates

08/26/09
Update: I have sent out a petition to 28 of my friends and am printing out the petition to start collecting hand written signatures to who will follow the petition that follows: I promise to remain tobacco free. I will not smoke or use any other tobacco products, and I will do my best to stay away from secondhand smoke, which I know is very harmful to my body, too. I will do my best to encourage people I know to quit smoking, and will do my best to support them as they try to quit.
