The Problem

The effects of domestic violence on the child of a victim of domestic abuse is just as devestating as the actual physical abuse. Children develop at a rapid rate between the ages of 6 and 13 and it is critical to provide services for these children so that they may develop healthy coping mechanisms, self-esteem, and trust for the world.

Plan of Action

I plan on using the grant of $500.00 to help increase the amount of clients that the Monmouth County Amanda's Easel can accomodate. Right now, the issue is not of lack of need for the program, but the issue of inadequate supplies. I plan to purchase additional paint supplies, smocks, paper, and any other supplies used in this process, for at least an additional 10 children to be able to participate in the program. It is a small step, but one in the right direction. If this attempt goes well, then we hope to gain additional support from other organizations who will see what the extra funding can do for a population who needs it very much.
