The Problem

I am trying to solve the problem of discrimination against gay citizens in North Carolina whom are being hurt by this new amendment through not even allowing (or recognizing) civil unions, custody rights, etc.

Plan of Action

I am writing an essay that I am entering in a local college-run essay contest, hoping that if it is recognized for any reason, it could get the attention of the government officials whom "work for the people" of North Carolina.
