The Problem

www.jstart.org We are working toward early childhood literacy. We want kids to feel prepare when they start kindergarten and the future. many children from low income don't get the education they need and barely develop words compared to high income children. Jumpstart brings college students and community volunteers together with preschool children for year long, individualized tutoring and mentoring. We build relationships with children and work with them so they can feel comfortable with themselves and others. We believe success is established in early years.

Plan of Action

A big even Jumpstart has is Read for the Record. Thousands of kids and family gather at Bryant Park in NY to read a book. This year we had A Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle and it was such a success. Celebrities join and interact with the children. Read for the Record has a big impact in addressing early childhood literacy.
