Anti-Genocide Program

why it's important:

The goals of the project are two-fold:
1.) To raise international awareness of the crime of genocide through presentations on my personal story in a wide range of forums, including high schools, universities, synagogues, churches, mosques, workshops, and conferences on genocide prevention, human rights, and youth empowerment;
2.) To help Rwandans rebuild their lives and their country by establishing youth centers that offer a variety of services, including entrepreneurship education, English language training, computer courses, performing arts activities, trauma counseling and a microfinance initiative.

the plan of action:

"Jacqueline’s Human Rights Corner" was conceived in April 2007 as a Miracle Corners of the World Partner Initiative. Since, I have made much progress accomplishing my goals, reaching thousands of people internationally through my presentations. Construction on a community center has also started in Rwanda and a team of young Rwandans has been trained to lead daily activities in the center once it is finished. The center will greatly impact Rwandans, both those who work at the center and those who benefit from its services.
