Vital Stats
The Problem
Objective: To bring about driving safety awareness in young adults in a fun and innovative way within a community, by asking them a challenging yet self motivated question; "Are you brave enough to take the keys?".
First Item on Agenda: To tackle the computer savvy teen.
Nowadays, most young adults have some typed of networking online account; for example, myspace, facebook, and bebo. These profiles are easily accessible to the public. i.e.(friends, family, co-workers,etc.), and are oftenused for all types of communication and advertisement. The idea would be to create a centralized account on a networking site like those stated above, that would solely act as a promotional haven for safety driving awareness by providing tips, true stories, and video clips.
Second Item on Agenda: Form awareness groups within a community.
In conjunction with networking awareness we would also congregate community youths whose foresight parallels with our objective. And would be able to coinicide with already established groups whose mission is aslo to bring forth greater saftey driving tips like M.A.D.D., the local police department, and maybe even the coroners office. School assemblies, community meetings and "Awareness Boths" could also be set up at festivals.
Third Item on Agena: Reinforcement
Once we have our group created, we could select certain volunteers to help create free multimedia DVDs. These DVDs would include skits performed by the volunteers that demonstrate youth to youth, parent to youth, and community to youth about the Do's and the Dont's on driving safety. These would be given out to all high schools and showcased at school assemblies in one's community.
Fourth Item on Agenda: Spread the word
Key chains that would say "Are you brave enough to take the keys?" would be given out as constant reminder of safe driving every time they would take their keys. And Lastly, word of mouth. After all is said and done, communication and advice from that one person who is important to you can make a difference.
