The Problem

I am trying to solve the problem of lack of art education in schools in rural areas. Schools are having to cut budgets and they always seem to cut art programs first. And children should not have to stop dreaming of becoming an artist just because they can't afford to take art classes.

Plan of Action

I formed a board of directors and applied for nonprofit status from the IRS. I created a business plan and created programs for the organization. I held a meeting with the Mayor, Superientendent, artists, and business CEOs to present my organization idea. When they said they would support the organization, I talked to a reporter and the made the pulic aware by running an article in the newspaper. When we started getting a great response and people started taking me seriously, we started getting volunteer and donation pledges. I met with different business owners and one donated a building with free rent for 3 months. We then sent out applications to parents and now have over 200 students signed up and ready for classes which hope to start March 2nd.
