The Problem
The artistic crafts that we fondly remember from our childhoods are often not available to homeless children. In fact, many of these children rarely have the time to simply have fun as a kid and are often forced to grow-up too soon in order to cope with their difficult circumstances.
Plan of Action
1) Contact local homeless shelter that works with families. (completed) - We will be working with American Family Housing (also known as the Shelter for the Homeless - they service homeless, formerly homeless persons and families with emergency, transitional, and low-income housing)
2) Since this is a long term project, a volunteer application and orientation will have to be completed (scheduled)
3) Arrange a class time that can occur every week or every other week. (completed)
4) Purchase supplies for the art program (We got a $500 grant from Do Something which we are going to use for this project?)
5) Design the art program. Somethings there will be guided arts and crafts projects that the children can participate in if they choose to.
