Arts as a vision for change
the problem:
Arts as a vision for change would bring together community and student organizations together to talk about their vision for Richmond High School and the community at large.

30why it's important:
We will then translate these discussions in creating murals around campus that represent this vision for change and begin the process of creating change. Some of the groups that we have begun to talk to is Gay Straight Alliance, Amnesty International, Muralistas, Black Student Union, and Alma Latina so far. We also want to get community people and make this process multi generational. This would create dialogue between a diverse group of people, the hope is that this project would start of with a positive accomplishment, instead of just talking which would hopefully and inspire folks to make their vision a reality. The murals would serve multiple purposes, first they would create dialogue for change and building a vision for a better community in a challenging neighborhood, this being a first step. Second the discussions would bring multigenerational group of people that would feel invested in the school. 3rd it would be a diverse group of people that do not usually work together, to create racial unity. Lastly the project itself would beautify a school that students can feel proud of, and bring color onto a campus that has no windows.
the plan of action:
This school year has been very challenging as a whole. It would be a great opportunity to finish of the school year in a positive atmosphere.
