Plan of Action
Along with our regular Saturday sessions from 9 to 12noon (www.facebook.com/asapatl) and again from 12:30 to 2:00pm, we have a weekly after school program that will begin on Monday, October 4th.
Our meeting schedule will follow the Fulton County Academic Year Calendar for 2010-2011.
Our meeting days will coincide with full school days; when the students are on vacation our after school program will not meet.
The weekly meeting schedule is coordinated as follows:
Monday (K-5)*
2:30pm to 4:30pm
Tuesday (6-12)**
4:00pm to 6:00pm
Wednesday (K-5)
2:30pm to 4:30pm
Thursday (6-12)
4:00pm to 6:00pm
--We do not meet on Fridays--
Currently, we have 20-30 students in our (K-5) group and 10-20 students in our (6-12) group. This will be a great opportunity. We are looking for 30 volunteers (male and female) to participate as teachers/tutors.
Some of the topics and areas of instruction/assistance are below:
•financial literacy
•health & nutrition
•personal skill/life skill development
•math (pre-algebra/algebra/pre-cal/calculus/advanced calculus)
•science (bio/chemistry/physics/earth science)
Each College Student and or professional who participates will receive an official letter of completion from ACTODAY Foundation, Inc. along with a letter of recommendation to his or her desired post graduate school and/or place of employment. This will be beneficial for students in all major fields of study as it will call upon the skill sets of:
•Psychology
•Economics
•Health Science & Nutrition
•Education
•Public Speaking
•English
•Mathematics
•Biology
•Computer Science
•Graphic Design & Programming
•Early Childhood Development
•Teaching
•Counseling
•Chemistry
•Art
•History
•Journalism
•Research & Development
We are ready to move forward today. I look forward to hearing from you.
We would like to schedule our orientation and informal interviews for next Friday. Each volunteer needs to submit a resume. This can be emailed directly to: resumes@actodayfoundation.org.
Our meeting location for this after school program will be the College Park Housing Authority, located at the following address:
2015 Virginia Ave
College Park, GA 30337
This is walking distance from the Conley Recreational Center (where we meet on Saturdays).
* (K-5) refers to Kindergarten through the fifth grade
** (6-12) refers to sixth grade through the twelfth grade
Refreshments will definitely be provided.
We're looking forward to great things!
