Ballard Community Center Adventure Middle School Camp

The City of Seattle offers a Middle School Camp program for the city's youth. This is my second year as the Director of the program at Ballard Community Center. This year, the city elected to stop offering scholarships to middle school students. Over half of our participants from last summer were on scholarship. It is my goal to raise enough money to offer these same kids and more the opportunity to attend this amazing camp. Our camps are by far the cheapest option in the City of Seattle, however, many of our families will be unable to send their children to our program unless they are subsidized. It is my goal to run this program without having to turn anyone away. We provide a sense of community for the youth, peace of mind for the parents, and endless memories. In our program we take field trips where we explore the Puget Sound Region, participate in nature programs and conservation, learn to cook, participate in service learning projects, learn to kayak, support our local sports team, race down waterslides and so much more. Our youth deserve the opportunity to grow as individuals in a safe environment without the temptation of so many of the ugly activities awaiting our youth.
