The Problem

Too many people don't know what's in their food or where it comes from. I wanted to help other kids to eat healthy & organic--in the center of town! 1. Teaching kids and families about sustainable agriculture through growing a straw bale tipi garden at our Town Hall! 2. Helping the hungry by donating the veggies from the garden to a Food Pantry. 3. Greening the small town of Barkhamsted, CT.

Plan of Action

1. We've gotten a small group of people, some scout troops, and school families on board. 2. We got the site ready, and started planting. 3. Most of what we have has been donated--we set up watering cans at some stores for people to donate change, and the Barkhamsted Women's Club gave us some money. 4. We're having a "Grand Opening" day, with organic snacks, lots of information, free stuff--for people to check it out. 5. My girl scout troop is earning an Eco Badge with my mom--everything we're doing is going to be information at the opening day.
