Our "Next Big Thing" music video was a national effort involving many talented individuals from a variety of personal and professional backgrounds. I developed the concept in New York, wrote the song in Silicon Valley, worked with studio engineers in North Carolina on the production and had the video filmed and directed in San Francisco. I featured my favorite group of youth musicians in the Bay Area and worked with the students to arrange scenes and ideas that worked well with the song they inspired. The finished product was tailor-made to the kids' taste and is a vivid representation of the joy that music has brought to their lives and stories.
Music is my life. I have performed at a professional level for many years and I credit the fruits of my career to the amazing teachers that I have had and the life changing classes and programs they represent. Music education has been instrumental in my development not only as an artist, but as a human being.

Without music education and its ambassadors and constituents, life would be silent and creativity would stall.

About Your Video
Music Class
The biggest challenge that we faced with the project was coordinating the creative material across all parties. Due to the fact that we involved so many talented people from around the country, it was difficult at times to manage deadlines, time changes, weather and technology. While the production was stressful at times, the finished product was well worth the effort and the rewarding experiences we will always remember.

I will always be an advocate for music education. Our mission and campaign to keep music education in schools will continue with or without this competition and its resources. Next year, we will explore new ways to promote saving the music for organizations such as CASA in San Francisco.
