The Problem
The Bay Area Rescue Mission is a shelter located in Richmond, CA. They take part in providing shelter, food, and education for the homeless. However, the Mission's main purpose is to inspire others to make changes in their lives by introducing them to the Word of Jesus Christ. Thousands of people have walked through the Mission and their first impression of it is a living area. The room is in very poor condition and I want to give the Mission a laminate wood floor that will with hold the wear and tear of residents and visitors. I am also planning on giving the room a fresh coat of paint along with a new area rug, new artwork, and new window treatments. Not only will this make the room appear more cheerful, but it will also boost the morale of the residents and give them a sense of hope.
Plan of Action
First, I would like to raise all of the necessary funds for this project. I want to give the Mission a floor that will last a long time, which means more money may have to go into this project than originally anticipated. This process has already begun, but I'm still looking for the remainder of my goal. I will make story boards of potential designs that will be used in the room and I will present these to the directors of the Mission. After the design has been chosen the renovation process will begin. I'm leading a team of about 15 and I am working with someone who is an expert at laying laminate floors such as the one I am putting in. The entire renovation will take about 3 days.
