The project allows young women of color to come together learn about HIV/AIDS, its impact on the community, and other sexual reproductive health issues, and then educate the community on the learned informaion through workshops, community forums, school visitations, and community events. The objective is to raise the awareness first in the immediate community, then in the state, and hopefully throughout the nation. HIV infects 40,000 people each year and there are approximately over 1 million infected with the virus in the United States alone. By teaching youth about contraception and abstience we as a community can put a stop to the spread of HIV/AIDS. It takes a village to raise a child.
