The Problem
The restoration of the Bernie Whitebear Memorial Ethnobotanical Garden is vital to the community. It is a legacy that seems to have been forgotten or lost. Restoring it will provide traditional medicine and agriculture to our community in a sacred space to our people.
Plan of Action
I plan to get a group of volunteers together under Mrs. Norine Hill, the volunteer coordinator at United Indians of All Tribes Foundation. We will first clean up the existing garden and take inventory of what species are there. Then we'll discuss how to move and expand the space into a renewed, fruitful medicinal garden for the community. This includes buying plants, restoring pathways, gardening tools and mulch.
