The Problem

Best Buddies is a non-profit organization that enhances the lives of people with intellectual disabilities by providing opportunities for one-to-one friendships and integrated employment. The University of Central Florida's Best Buddies chapter is putting together a Field Day in honor of the National Best Buddies awareness month. Our goal is to bring hundreds of people together to promote the ideals of friendship and tolerance. This event is filled with various sports games/athletic activities and we have invited the Special Olympics to join in the day's fun. The chapter held a Fundraiser, The Taste of Friendship, at the beginning of the semester in which we provided over 750 students with donated food from participating vendors. We are confident that this event will be as successful and are hoping to receive a grant in order to accommodate the participants expected. The grant will be used to fund the picnic style food for the day and possibly custom event t-shirts. We are also eager to share the Moblog we have created, www.moblog.co.uk/blog/bestbuddiesucf, which enables us to instantly send photos of our events via phone to allow for more exposure of our cause and ultimately create more awareness in the community and globally. Viewers are also ablet to comment on the photos posted. Thank You for your Consideration.
