Beta Psi Cares

The Problem

Every year young adults take their first step toward a bright future by attending college; unfortunately money is always an issue. The Beta Psi Cares project is a Scholarship on the behalf of the Beta Psi Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi at Kansas State University to help, those students that either: don't receive financial aid, have dependents at a young age, walk on athletes, and those who excel in school despite working their way through college. We are doing our best to give away at least five, $1000 scholarships to the chosen applicants and anything left over to any runner-ups. This project is solely for the community that we serve here at Kansas State. With books running an average of about $400-$500 a semester, this scholarship would greatly benefit any applicant that receives it.

Plan of Action

First off: We are asking corporations around the Manhattan area for donations towards our cause. This is a fundraiser that will go on up until the scholarship give away, in the spring of 2014. Secondly: Any profits that we would make from events held on campus will go toward the scholarships. Third: We are asking any available alumni for donations to the the Scholarship project. Forth: Will be the application process, we really don't want GPA to be part of the decision, seeing how most scholarship use GPA to weed out applicants who really need the funds. We want to take a written application from applicants as well as a brief video, explaining why the scholarship would help them.
