The Problem

So often my city received negative remarks concerning its looks, in order to combat such comments, I decided to start a project that would address the trash that cluttered street corners, parks, and the lawns of people's homes.

Plan of Action

In the spring of 2009, 125 students, parents, and staff walked across my city in 90 degree weather collecting trash. We returned to our school with over 1,000 pounds of trash. This event that we coined "BHS Address the Mess" will return in 2010 under the direction of our AP Environmental Studies class.
