I attend Southern Arkansas University, and am an RA on campus. Any students living in the dorms are able to create a "RIG" - Resident Interest Group, which groups people together so they will be living with people who have a same interest. A group of girls and I have decided to start a RIG called Big Sisters on Campus. We will be working thru the United Way to reach out to those younger children in our town. We love SAU, but feel there isn't hardly any interaction between the community and SAU. So, we are trying to change that. Our first task we are taking on is going to adopt a Tee-Ball team. We are going to attend some of their games and take them cokes and popsicles as rewards for playing good. We are just getting started, and we won't really get started until the beginning of next year in August. We hope to do many different things with children in the community but basically we just want to be positive role models to those younger children in the area and let them know that college are their friends and here to help them!
